Dou Dizhu Express is Dou Dizhu, "fight the landlord", for three players, each on their own phone: bid to be the landlord, then play alone against two farmers who play together.
About Dou Dizhu Express
Dou Dizhu is the most played card game in China, and it takes three people at one table. Dou Dizhu Express keeps the game and drops the table: one phone hosts, the other two join it with a short code, and nothing needs a server or an account. Bots take any empty seat.
The pack is 54 cards, the 52 and two jokers, and suits do not count: the order is 3 up to the ace, then the 2, the little joker and the big joker. Seventeen cards each, and three left face down. Each player bids once, 1 to 3 and higher than before, or passes. The highest bidder is the landlord, takes the three cards, shown to everybody, and leads. The other two are the farmers, and win or lose together.
The plays are rich: a single, a pair, three with one card or a pair, a straight of five or more, a run of pairs, an airplane of threes with wings, four with two cards, a bomb, and the rocket of both jokers. Beat the last play with the same kind and length, higher, or pass; a bomb beats anything but a higher bomb. The bid is the stake, doubled for every bomb and rocket, and once more for a spring. A game is 3, 6, 9 or 12 hands, and the highest total wins.
Made for the journey
- No internet, no mobile data. The phones talk to each other directly, so a game carries on through tunnels, ghats and stretches with no signal at all.
- Everyone on their own phone. Nobody passes a handset round, and nobody sees a hand that is not theirs.
- Short of players? Bots take the empty seats, each with a setting for how closely it follows the play.
- A dropped link is not the end of the hand. A phone that loses the connection can join the same table again.
- No sign-in and no real money. Install it, open it, play.
